While a formal certification course like that offered by Saint Louis University may not fit into the schedule of some busy product safety professionals, there are many other opportunities out there that offer valuable insight into the world of recall management and crisis planning. In fact, we’re joining hands with the Society Of Consumer Affairs Professionals In Business (SOCAP International) to offer a three-part webinar series titled “Ensuring Customer Satisfaction During A Recall.” We’ve pulled together a curriculum that will teach you how to make sure that consumers, customers, and regulators understand that you have effectively managed a recall.

Throughout the webinar series, leading government and industry experts will examine how to integrate the best practices of recall management into the overall customer experience. We will walk through the recall lifecycle as we address the importance of recall planning and recall preparedness. Each of the three modules will focus on achieving recall effectiveness from the standpoint of a specific critical audience.

The first module will be held on February 3, 2011, and focus on the role of regulatory agencies during the recall process, honing in on best practices to ensure recall compliance. The second module, scheduled for February 8, 2011, will discuss best practices for crisis communications, with an emphasis on how you and your company can best notify and communicate with consumers during a recall. The third and final module on February 11, 2011, will get down to the basics and best practices of recall execution, stressing the importance of recall communication among your consignees and direct customers.

It’s not too late to sign up for this three-part course. We encourage anyone involved in the recall process to participate. The first step to managing an effective recall is recall preparation. And the best way to prepare is to make sure that you and your colleagues are up-to-date on changing regulations and best practices for recall management.
