Training for Success at CBI’s Recall Boot Camp
06-22-2012
Many people have experienced first-hand the challenges associated with managing recalls. But given the ever-changing regulatory environment, have you thought about whether your employees have the know-how and stamina to help your company effectively execute a recall?
I recently had the pleasure of co-chairing CBI’s Rx and OTC Product Recalls Boot Camp at the Conrad Indianapolis Hotel in Indianapolis. As always, CBI’s Product Recalls Series successfully brought together leading professionals at many pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing companies to discuss important issues related to recall management.
As part of the event, attendees heard from staff at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about how to effectively work with local FDA offices and Recall Coordinators throughout the recall process, as well as the current state of recalls for the life sciences industry. Gaining insight and best practices from FDA for critical basic elements of recall execution was invaluable for all attendees. But perhaps even more important, representatives from the agency were available throughout the conference for one-on-one conversations, giving attendees an opportunity to have their questions answered.
Following FDA’s address and presentations, we were pleased to offer attendees the opportunity to take a tour of ExpertRECALL’s Indianapolis facility in order to put the recall process into context by providing a behind-the-scenes look at the enormity and complexity of the process.
We can appreciate the difficultly in perfecting a process that you more than likely have to execute so infrequently. But we hope this two-day event provided a helpful refresher course for those of you who may one day be charged with managing your company’s next recall.
